Unusually Original

As a radical noticer and avid collector, Sylvia reworks recycled materials to original pieces. Her goal is to help you embrace your authentic self and celebrate your unusual side with the idea that subtlety can playful and understated can be bold.

Rework is at the heart of Sylvia’s art practice. Collecting is step one. Creating is step two. As a self taught and intuitive artist, she uses materials as guide, allowing for introspection and intuition to influence each piece.

When asked where she sources materials, Sylvia says everywhere. She picks up a sidewalk rock walking her kiddo to school. She keeps the remnants of a broken coffee mug. Her friends and family bring her materials they aren’t exactly sure what to do with. She also seeks out materials from thrift stores, curbside heaps, and freecycle. She reworks reclaimed materials as they are all around her.

Sylvia’s love for contemporary ideas and artforms extends across mediums. She creates original abstract paintings, mixed media prints, assemblage, and jewelry.
